ree

Background and Introduction:

Hailing from Las Vegas, NV, DXRTY's musical journey began in street art and turntablism/DJing, eventually leading him to EDM production after a life-changing Ghastly Live Set experience at Life is Beautiful Festival in 2016. Inspired by DJ Snake, Party Favor, and Boombox Cartel, DXRTY's gritty and experimental style blends heavy bass and trap elements, setting the stage for his dynamic career in music.

On the other side of the spectrum, NOVEMBR's musical roots trace back to playing the double bass in orchestra at age 12. Introduced to EDM by DJ KUJØE, NOVEMBR fell in love with the music after experiencing RL Grime at EDCO 2019. His style, a fusion of hip-hop and EDM, draws influence from RL Grime, HUCCI, Travis Scott, and Troyboi, showcasing a unique blend of genres and a deep appreciation for complex drum patterns.

Musical Style and Influences:

DXRTY's signature style is characterized by its gritty and experimental nature, combining heavy bass and trap elements. His sound is heavily influenced by his musical idols, DJ Snake, Party Favor, and Boombox Cartel, whose tracks have been a staple in his playlists long before he embarked on his production journey.

In contrast, NOVEMBR's style represents the intersection of hip-hop and EDM, featuring intricate drum patterns and a fusion of genres. His influences, including RL Grime, HUCCI, Eliminate, Travis Scott, and Troyboi, contribute to his unique sound, blending the best of both worlds in a seamless musical fusion.

Creative Process:

DXRTY's creative process is fueled by drums or sound design, serving as the initial spark for his musical ideas. Leveraging plugins like Serum, grain scanner, and Operator, DXRTY crafts his signature sound, layering gritty textures and experimental beats to create tracks that resonate with his audience.

NOVEMBR approaches creativity with an open mind, believing that rules inhibit the creative process. Whether starting with drums, melody, or random bass noises, his creative process is fluid and adaptive. With Ableton as his primary tool, NOVEMBR explores sampling and resampling, pushing the boundaries of traditional production techniques.

Favorite Projects and Collaborations:

DXRTY's favorite projects revolve around his collaborations with talented producers like Kuhlosul, Neomade, M?STIC, and 2SPADE. Each collaboration has been a learning experience, offering insights into different creative processes and inspiring DXRTY to push the boundaries of his sound.

For NOVEMBR, his favorite project, "World on Fire," holds a special place in his heart as the first track he ever wrote. Collaborating with DXRTY on "BADDEST" was also a standout moment, showcasing the chemistry and creative energy between the two artists.

Career Highlights and Challenges:

DXRTY's career highlights include seeing his music played at renowned festivals like Lost Lands and EDC, as well as performing at mainstream rap shows and festivals in Las Vegas. However, balancing his life as a producer and DJ has been a challenge, one that he overcomes with effective time management and a focus on his mental and physical well-being.

On the flip side, NOVEMBR's career highlight was opening for RL Grime on NYE in Orlando, a testament to his dedication and talent as a producer. Despite facing challenges in learning music theory and finding time to produce while working full-time, NOVEMBR remains steadfast in his pursuit of musical excellence.

Upcoming Releases and Plans:

DXRTY is tight-lipped about his upcoming releases, teasing only that more music is on the horizon. He's also delving into the world of filming and video editing, hinting at exciting projects to come. His long-term goals include touring more frequently and securing DJ residencies at prestigious venues like Marquee, Drais, and Daylight.

Meanwhile, NOVEMBR has a solo EP slated for release in 2024, along with a collaboration EP with ALBNOPNDA. Additionally, he's gearing up for the release of "5th of NOVEMBR mix Vol. 3," with ambitions of achieving global success in the music industry.

Advice for Aspiring Producers:

DXRTY's advice to aspiring producers is to conduct extensive research on DAWs like Ableton or FL Studio, invest in their music production setup, and focus on honing their craft without comparing themselves to others. He emphasizes the importance of dedicating time to learning and perfecting one's skills, as results will follow with persistence and dedication.

Similarly, NOVEMBR urges aspiring producers to never give up on their dreams, emphasizing that failure is only temporary. He advises against spending money on expensive masterclasses, instead advocating for utilizing resources like YouTube for learning. Drawing from his own experience of starting from scratch at 24 years old, NOVEMBR emphasizes the value of perseverance and the importance of seeking 1-on-1 lessons with a knowledgeable teacher.

Personal Interests and Hobbies:

Outside of music, DXRTY enjoys filming and has even ventured into indie short horror films. He's an avid collector of vinyl records, currently rebuilding his collection. When he's not working on music, you'll find him watching NBA games or gaming on his Xbox, all while enjoying quality time with his partner and their three beloved animals.

Similarly, NOVEMBR enjoys spending time with his partner and pets when he's not producing music. An accomplished bowler, he won the collegiate national championship with his team in 2018. He's also a golf enthusiast and a food lover, always on the lookout for new culinary experiences.
